May 20, 2017. Fundraiser to serve kids, Young Park, 10 AM – 3 PM. A car show, with food and beverage vendors. From Jim Pudlewski: Now that the New Year is well under way, its time to mark your calendar for Kars for Kids. Remember, we have moved the event up a month this year (we hope to avoid the 100+ temperatures of the last couple of years). So put a big red check on Saturday, May 20. We hope to see you at the show again.
This year’s show will again include the car show, pancake breakfast, and kids’ fishing clinic. A disc jockey will provide old-time rock and roll from the stage. Our high school service organizations, (Key Clubs) will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers at lunchtime. Prizes for the car show are awarded at 2:45 PM.
To enter a car: registration on-site begins at 7 AM. If you’d like to register in advance, a registration form is linked here. We will award prizes in 6 classes. There will be Vintage, Classic, Custom, Hot Rod, Low-rider and Motorcycle plaques. If you’d like to enter a vehicle, please be sure to circle the category that best fits your vehicle (one category/entry please). The back of the registration form has descriptions of each category. Awards for Kids’ Choice, Artist’s Choice, and Furthest travelled will also be given. Best of Show still wins $200.
We hope you will join us in Young Park again this year to celebrate the 18th year of Kars for Kids and Kiwanis Club of Las Cruces’ 91st year in the city. All profits will go to support children in the Las Cruces community. – JIM
