Saturday, May 19, 2018. Our 19th annual Kars for Kids fundraiser to serve kids, Young Park on Walnut Street, just south of Lohman, 9 AM – 3 PM. A car show, with food and beverage vendors, and more.
The event is a fundraiser for Jardin de Los Niños, Kiwanis sponsored service organizations and the Kiwanis Club of Las Cruces Foundation. The event includes a $5 a plate pancake breakfast at the pavilion from 7 to 11 am. The 4 Key Clubs in Las Cruces will sell hot dogs and hamburgers at lunch time.
Registrations are now being accepted. The show of vintage, classic. hot rod, low rider and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles is free to the public and runs from 9 am to 3 pm.
Early registration for car and motorcycle entries only cost $25 (firstname.lastname@example.org or 575-525-9478 will get you a registration form; you can also download it here in Word or PDF form). Vehicles can also be registered the morning of the show, from 7 am to 10 am for $30.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will host a children’s fishing clinic at the pond in Young Park from 8 am to noon during the event. Children 11 and under are invited to learn fishing techniques from a professional and try their luck in the pond (which will be stocked for the event). The stage will feature old time rock and roll music provided by a DJ.
Sponsors will award trophies divided into Classic, Custom, Hot Rod, Low Rider, Vintage and Motorcycle categories. There will also be awards for artist’s choice, peoples’ choice and a plaque for the furthest distance traveled to the show . Jardin will award its annual “Kids Choice” prize. The best of show vehicle will win $200.
